What is Early Help?

Early help interventions support children and families as soon as problems emerge. Early help support is aimed at improving outcomes for children or preventing escalating need or risk.

How we offer Early Help support at Granby Junior School

Support will be given over the phone or during face to face meetings in a confidential space within the school. Our school family support worker will work closely with you and your child to support with any needs or concerns that arise. An early help assessment may be completed to identify any gaps in support that might be needed as well as current strengths. This assessment may lead to Team Around the Family (TAF) Meetings to create SMART targets and effect positive change.

Children's thoughts, wishes and feelings are always at the center of our early help interventions and should a risk be identified that raises concerns requiring high levels of interventions, appropriate actions will be taken to keep the child safe.

 Successful Early Help will mean:

  • are physically and emotionally healthy
  • are resilient and able to learn well
  • are supported by their families, community and (when necessary) professionals in order to thrive
  • live in safe environments

Parents and carers:

  • support one another in the community
  • know where to get help if needed
  • have trusted relationships with school, community, other parents
  • are well informed about how best to help their child development
