'Best That You Can Be' - A song for Derbyshire Video

A song for Derbyshire.

In October, children from Y6 were involved in the recording and filming of the newly commissioned Song for Derbyshire -'Best That You Can Be'.

It took over ten months of hard work and coordination through the Derbyshire Music Hub to bring together all aspects oft he project together. ,

Pupils suggested lyrics, which were passed on to Glossop-based composers Dan Whibley and James Manson, to take ideas forward in their specially commissioned song.

Derbyshire City and County Youth Orchestra and Youth Wind Band rehearsed and recorded the instrumentals before schools and music centres decided where they would like their performances to be filmed.

It was a massive collaboration involving 13 lyrics schools, 36 performance schools (of which Granby was one),  area music centres, 1,100 singers and 270 musicians. It was filmed across 32 locations around Derbyshire, with 1,700 young people taking part in producing and filming this motivational message, to be 'The Best That You Can Be'.
