Care to Achieve your best
On behalf of all the staff, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the website for Granby Junior School.
As Head teacher, I am delighted and proud to be part of this exciting community school. Granby is a welcoming place with children experiencing a varied and exciting range of learning opportunities in and out of the classroom, within and beyond the school day. Our partnership between home and school, as well as links with our Governors, local groups and other schools, allows us to support our children in their learning, enabling them to be the best that they can be.
At Granby, our ethos and values lie at the heart of our curriculum. Our three values of Care to Achieve your best guide our community in what we learn, and how we learn. We have outlined what the values mean to us. Our curriuclum is inclusive and carefully planned to ensure that it is broad and challenging. It is regularly reviewed to ensure that it remains relevant for our children and our community, and for how we believe the world should be improved.
At Granby we use the 'Thrive approach' to support all our children to improve their mental health and wellbeing. The Thrive team of SEND trained Teachers and LSAs (Learning support Assistants), help pupils with social and emotional issues, anxiety, social interaction and many other concerns. Across school the children engage in activities which develop a positive mind set within their classes and following profiling a child may also be referred for 1:1 or small group work if they are experiencing any difficulties or struggling to find their learning focus.
At Granby Junior School we have embraced the Thrive approach to enable us to help our children better understand their feelings and emotions.
