Year 6 - Mrs Godson

Welcome to Year 6 - Mrs Godson!

Welcome to the planet's coldest lands... vast wilds, hostile territories, incredibly beautiful yet often deadly. Take shelter from the elements or fall prey to icy winds and deepest chill. Trek bravely and valiantly across treacherous terrain to the ends of the Earth, treading deep in snow pulled by a team of mighty sled dogs.

This topic covers climate change, temperature, habitats, eco-systems and many other scientific and geographical elements, as well as evocative poetry and the exciting history of polar exploration in the early 1900s. Our class reading book will be The Call of the Wild by Jack London

We have been enjoying our new topic 'Frozen Kingdom'. The children have developed some amazing creative pieces of homework linked to this including: powerpoint presentations, iceberg science experiments and some amazing artwork.

Frozen Kingdom - Creative Homework by 6G

We have been developing Iceberg scenery to display our researched facts about the Arctic and Antarctica. Plus, we have imagined life as passengers on board the Titantic and written diary entries and messages home to share possible experiences. We hope you like our display as much as our class pet 'Whale' who looks on longingly at the Frozen Kingdom ;-)

Inspiring homework - enjoy the powerpoint linked to our topic 'Frozen Kingdom'

Learn about the Titantic with Tulah's powerpoint - Was it a natural disaster or an avoidable tragedy?

We enjoyed 'aging' paper to record our diary entries - we imagined being part of Scott's Terra Nova Expedition to the South Pole.

Great TEAM effort! Developing co-operative skills whilst building tents - Space week - Survival
