This morning was the dodgeball game! Year 4 children competed against the Year 3 children. Wow! All teams were fantastic at dodging, throwing and catching! Well done everyone!
We have been very busy the last couple of weeks preparing for the Art Festival! We have made dream catchers, totem poles, headdresses, created drawings and patterns. This was all in relation to Native Americans. The overall look was absolutely fantastic! Thank you to parents, family and friends who came along to admire our amazing art work!
Visit To Ormiston!
Today we visited Ormiston Ilkeston Enterprise Academy to work with the Year 10 children. They provided us with many fun activities learning French and German!
For geography week, we have been busy looking at different types of food and drink. We have been learning about where in the world these foods and drinks come from. We have looked at which foods and drinks are exported and which are imported. It has been very interesting and exciting to discuss all of this! It has been great to learn new facts that we didn’t know before!
We have also learnt that Coca-Cola is the most popular soft drink in every country, except for Scotland! Can you find out which soft drink is the most popular in Scotland?
Granby's Got Talent!

Granby’s Got Talent!
On Wednesday 27th June, Year 4 children have the opportunity to audition for Granby’s Got Talent!
If your child wishes to audition, they will need to bring in their costume, music and any props that they need for their act.
Some of the acts will then be chosen to perform in front of the whole school at a later date for the final! Good luck!

The History Of Ilkeston
Yesterday, we were lucky to have two special visitors from the local history society. They came in to talk to us about the history of Ilkeston’s transport. This was very interesting!
Today, we have worked in pairs to create our own presentation about the history of Ilkeston’s transport. We have acted like future historians! We will then present our information to the class tomorrow.
Today we all wore red, blue and white clothes to celebrate the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle! We all looked very Royal!
Today was our special awards assembly! Congratulations to everyone who received an award!
We had awards for fantastic maths work, excellent poetry, improvement of attitude and lots of caring awards! We also had many bronze awards to hand out, as well as a couple of super silver awards! Keep up the good work!
Telling The Time!
We have been learning how to tell the time in Maths this week!
Special Awards Assembly!
Today was our special assembly. Lots of children received an Oscar for their ‘Pirates Of The Curry Bean’ performance! We also had many bronze awards to give out - well done for earning lots of team points in order to achieve this award!
As part of challenge week we worked in small teams to design a chocolate bar! We had to design the product, work out the cost, think of a catchy name, advertise our product and promote it! Everyone had some fantastic ideas and showed great teamwork! Well done!
During maths we have been focusing on decimals. On Friday we set each other challenges based on decimals. This was a great way to get our brains working!

Pirates Of The Curry Bean!
Wow! What a short but busy term! We would like to say a huge well done to the year 4 children for working so hard to learn their lines for the play in such a short space of time.
You all did a great job singing, dancing and performing! You were all very brave to perform in front of such a big audience! You should all be very proud - as we are extremely proud of you! Well done you super stars!!
Thank you to parents also for, helping children learn their lines, coming to watch the performance and for bringing children back for the evening performance. We hope you enjoyed the show!
World Book Day!
Due to us having a snow day last week, today has been our world book day instead! Great effort from everybody who came dressed up as their favourite book character! You all looked fantastic!
We also brought in our favourite books to share them with the Year 5 children. This was a lovely experience to make some new friends through our love of reading.
This half term our topic will be 'Playlists!' We will be learning all about different types of noises and sounds!

On Tuesday morning, Year 4 went to Orimiston Ilkeston Academy to attend a science morning. During this morning the children were able to have a go at lots of different science activities that we don't normally get the opportunity to do in primary schools. The teachers at Ormiston put on a range of different activities, where the children looked at the amount of energy different crisps contain. This meant that we were able to have a go at using bunsen burners, as well as wearing special goggles. This was very exciting!
Goodbye Mr Mitchell!
Today we have said a very sad goodbye to our wonderful teacher, Mr Mitchell.
We would all like to say a great big thank you to Mr Mitchell for being a great teacher. We are very sad to lose him but... and we have a big but! We wish him all the best at his new school - his new class will be very lucky to have him as their teacher.
Thank you again, for being a super teacher! We will all miss you very much!

Multi Faith Week
This week has been Multi Faith week. 4M have been busy learning all about Hinduism. The whole school joined together in an assembly this afternoon to share with each other what we have learned about different faiths.
4M have now started to learn how to play the clarinet! How exciting!
As part of Democracy Day we discussed what democracy is and we also watched a short video to give us some more information about it. We then worked in groups to create our own political party. During the afternoon we were visited by a local councillor who talked about democracy. Then, we all had the opportunity to visit the polling station to vote for a change in the school day! After this, in our groups, we presented our Manifesto that we created earlier on this morning. Today has been a very fun and exciting day!

'Tis The Season To Be Jolly!
Yippee! It is almost Christmas! Have a look at what Christmas activities we have been doing by clicking the holly icon below!
Today we have used our maths skills to complete a number challenge! We had to place numbers 0-9 into a pattern but we had to make sure that no two consecutive numbers were next to each other in any direction! We had to see how many different orders we could make. This was tricky but it certainly got our brains working!

Today we watched a play about bullying which was called 'Ugly.' It was based on the story of Cinderella and her two sisters. We learned how people feel when they are being bullied and we also learned what we need to do if we were ever being bullied.
Children In Need!
Today we wore non-school uniform and kindly gave a donation to raise money for Childen in Need. Thank you to everyone for your support! :)
During Maths we have been solving problems using coins! This was tricky but also fun!
Dan The Skipping Man!
Today we had a special visitor called Dan! He is the skipping man! We all showed off our skipping skills and some of were chosen to perform later on today in a show!

On Friday we wore blue to support anti-bullying! This week we will be talking about bullying.
Today was our second awards assembly in Y4. We would like to say a huge well done to Jude for his topic work and also to Caden for his super work in Maths! Anya and Molly received caring awards for being helpful and kind members of our class. Thank you girls for being so helpful and caring!

Today Y3 and Y4 were treated to watch Keystrings which we really enjoyed! We learned about the history of music and we also heard the different sounds that the instruments make.
There was lots of singing, clapping and giggling!
