Hello everyone and welcome back. I hope you have all had a lovely christmas and are excited for our next topic- off with her head where we will be studying the Tudors!
We started our topic with our engage experience of a Tudor murder mystery! We had to look through evidence and solve the crime! All children worked really hard on this throughout the morning and many of us solved the crime! An excellent start!
This week, we have looked at a comparison between Tudor and modern London as well as looking at famous portraits and using our skills of inference to find out about the historical figures. The children have all made an excellent start and are really excited about the topic! Keep up the good work!
Another busy week in year five. We have been carrying out research on King Henry VIII so that we can write biographies. We have covered equivalent fractions in maths. During our art lesson we have completed portraits in the style of Hans Holbien the Younger, trying to incorporate as much fine detail as we could.
Reminder- year five swimming has started again this week and will continue now until the end of this half term.
P.E kits must be in school. With weather being more unpredictable this time of year, our outdoor P.E lessons occasionally have to be juggled about. However, it is still really important that every child has a P.E kit in school so that we can fit lessons in where possible.
Where has this half term gone?! We are now getting towards the end of our topic 'Off With Her Head' and we have all thoroughly enjoyed it. We have written persuasive letters from Anne Boleyn to Henry VIII and also written additional verses to Greensleeves. We have sketched Tudor items such as clothing and weaponry and also spent time looking at Tudor maps of London.
Next week, we will be visiting the Town Hall to carry out a debate for our Innovate week. Check back for updates!
