The term began with a fruit and veg market in the hall, where pupils could explore the sight, touch and smell of different produce. In the afternoon, children experienced the taste of some new and unusual foods and also sketched in detail different items.
Year 5 have written their own non-chronological report on allotments and are now beginning to look at instruction texts.
Now that the sun has come out, Y5 have taken their writing outside to explore the 5 senses whilst sitting in the sunshine. We have collected descriptive phrases and examples of figurative language to use in our own 'Secret Garden' story.
To bring this topic to a close, we have been performing poems in pairs, practising how to vary our tone and intonation to interest our listeners. Some of us also used actions and gestures to enhance the performance. Have a look at a couple below!
