Year 4 - Mrs Godson

World Book Day!

Due to us having a snow day last week, today has been our world book day instead! Great effort from everybody who came dressed up as their favourite book character! You all looked fantastic!

We also brought in our favourite books to share them with the Year 5 children. This was a lovely experience to make some new friends through our love of reading.

This half term our topic will be 'Playlists!' We will be learning all about different types of noises and sounds!

Super Scientists!

On Tuesday morning, Year 4 went to Orimiston Ilkeston Academy to attend a science morning. During this morning the children were able to have a go at lots of different science activities that we don't normally get the opportunity to do in primary schools. The teachers at Ormiston put on a range of different activities, where the children looked at the amount of energy different crisps contain. This meant that we were able to have a go at using bunsen burners, as well as wearing special goggles. This was very exciting!

Democracy Day

As part of Democracy Day we discussed what democracy is and we also watched a short video to give us some more information about it. We then worked in groups to create our own political party. During the afternoon we were visited by a local councillor who talked about democracy. Then, we all had the opportunity to visit the polling station to vote for a change in the school day! After this, in our groups, we presented our Manifesto that we created earlier on this morning. Today has been a very fun and exciting day!

Burps, Bottoms and Bile!

Problem Solving!

Today we have used our maths skills to complete a number challenge! We had to place numbers 0-9 into a pattern but we had to make sure that no two consecutive numbers were next to each other in any direction! We had to see how many different orders we could make. This was tricky but it certainly got our brains working!

Parents - Take a look at the worksheet in the slideshow below to see if you can take on the challenge!

Anti-Bullying Play!
