THE BLUE ABYSS

This half term we have begun our topic called 'The Blue Abyss'. Throughout this topic we will be learning all about the ocean, different sea creatures and how we can look after the environment to help protect particular sea creatures and environments.

We are only a couple of weeks into this term and we have already learnt so much about different aspects of our topic. We have used maps to locate the different oceans and seas of the world, created fact files about particular sea life creatures. During this we have found out some very interesting facts about different creatures that live in the sea, I am sure your children can tell you a few. I for one was very surprised to find out that lobster do have teeth but they are actually located in their stomach, not their mouth! How bizarre!

Our Adventure To The Deep!

Today, along with the other two year 4 classes, 4Ma went to The Deep in Hull. All the children had a fabulous day and really enjoyed seeing the different sea creatures that were there. We also took part in a workshop whilst we were there. During this workshop we learnt about how different marine wildlife require slime to survive and then all the children had the chance to undertake a practical session where they made their own slime! I am sure they have told you all about their day and the facts they have learnt.

Enjoy the pictures of our day below! smiley
